It took me a while to get into this book. When reading the first chapter, I thought it was going to be hard work and too full of facts. However, as the chapters went by, I became more engaged and found the reading experience enjoyable and interesting.

Jane manages to blend her personal reflections with clinical examples in a very real way, carrying me along as a companion rather than as a detached observer. She writes intelligently and in a thought-provoking manner, and she does not shy away from difficult issues. Rather she takes ownership of her ideas around them, often explaining what informs her stance from her own lived experience or literature for example.

Overall, it is an absorbing read, one I came away from more thoughtful and better informed.
